The story of Kerber’s Farm predates the brand today we all know and love. Originally founded in 1941, the farm served as an integral part of the lifeblood of the local community. One young local Huntington boy in particular would often frequent the farm with his mother around the holidays. Back then, Kerber’s Farm would supply young Nick Voulgaris III and his family chicken, turkey, eggs and pie and helped transform holidays into joyous festivities. But like many farms in the area, by 2013, it had fallen into a state of disrepair and was slated to be redeveloped into condominiums....

It all began with a candied orange peel. Husband and wife team, Corey and Sara Meyer, now make all sorts of strange and wonderfully curious confections out of their state of the art manufacturing facility in Plainview. But it all started with that orange rind Sara candied for her husband. Corey’s overjoyed reaction to the peel immediately plunged Sara into a candying kick. Soon she candied pretty much everything that was edible, including some leftover jalapeños. Corey thought she was crazy, Sara’s co-workers, however, did not. When Alex and Evan Spiegel met at Stony Brook in 2001 their fate was sealed as college sweethearts. But it wasn’t until Cornell grad school when the husband/wife team stumbled upon letterpress. While in Ithaca, Alex bought a hand press from a local artist and took up letterpress simply as a hobby… a very serious hobby. As young couples do Alex and Evan traveled together, however, their travels up-and-down the East Coast centered around picking up presses, type and all things letterpress related.
